This project presents a “Development Vision for the Project Area and Integrated Urban Design Concepts” for the World Bank Consultancy for “Urban Design Concepts for three pilot cities under the Uzbekistan Medium-Size Cities Integrated Urban Development Project” (MSCIUDP).

There are two major challenges for Kagan. One is to revive its well-endowed heritage and tap into the established flow of tourists traveling to Bukhara, who could easily spend a day in Kagan as well. The other challenge is to overcome urban severance, unify the city and give equal development opportunities to settlements on both sides of the railway .
