Atelier Librazhd is a pilot project and an experimental proactive planning exercise, a Do-Tank1 that develops ideas and concepts for the town of Librazh. Its main objective was to build capacity for the local Municipality on participatory and dialogue-oriented planning approaches. Together with the municipality staff and local stakeholders, we engaged in interactive workshops, testing different participatory planning tools by focusing on the river area. The information gathered through these processes served as basic input for developing an Integrated Development Strategy for the Shkumbin River area. The outputs are aligned with the goals of the General Local Plan of Librazhd.

In the European context, the newly established New Leipzig Charter that was presented during the German presidency of the EU proposes some interesting new approaches in urban and territorial development that may guide Albanian municipalities in their development. The Charter proposes integrated approaches that advocate a) a just city, b) a green city and c) a productive city.
