ENG

The metropolis of the future is about well-connected living space, production areas and workplaces in a close-knit network of spaces of opportunity. This is the place where Nuremberg grows within its centre: the location on the railroad with climate-neutral mobility is the prerequisite for the development of the site. Here, an mixed-use urban district is emerging as a productive center of the future, from which an impulse is emanating into the metropolitan region. The diverse and active uses in the ground floor zone shape the character of the location. The vertical mix of uses becomes a land of potential and a breeding ground for productive work and independent action. Added value for the residents, neighbors and climate is created. The two buildings allow flexible ground floor zones for businesses and digital production, as well as generous hybrid production methods in flexible workshops. The holistic view of hardware (building), software (variety of uses) and orgware (management) serves as a framework to develop the neighborhood as a productive center.

The basic idea of the project is to create a differentiated and diverse range of housing and uses. The inner courtyard becomes a meeting zone for producers, neighbors and residents alike. Curiosity and publicity are welcome here. The transparent facades allow insights into the active zones. The high-rise is a landmark in the region and a reference point in the landscape. It will complement and enliven the new center of Tiefes Feld – a center within walking distance of the characteristic high point. In addition to the creation of residential typologies, special attention is paid to the design of the diverse open spaces, which are given their character by the rotation of the building structures (terraces) and the vertical development (landmark).
