The Altona Innovation Park is part of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld and plays an important role in the City of Hamburg’s long-term innovation strategy, together with other urban innovation parks. A functional plan is being drawn up to outline the possibilities for the spatial development and use of the site. The main objective is to offer companies from the research and development sector long-term prospects by providing space in Hamburg, which will create highly qualified jobs. At the same time, the existing innovation ecosystem is to be used and improved. The adjacent districts are to be upgraded, while the innovation park will become better known nationally and internationally.
The planning teams are tasked with developing an urban design for the future functional plan. This takes into account not only the space requirements of the aforementioned uses, but also issues such as traffic, mobility and delivery, as well as ecological aspects such as the protection of biotopes, rainwater retention areas and flora and fauna. The declared aim is to reconcile current urban development issues such as adapting to climate change, ensuring sustainable mobility and reducing land sealing with the requirements for land use.

Der Innovationspark Altona ist ein Teil der Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld und spielt eine wichtige Rolle in der langfristigen Innovationsstrategie der Stadt Hamburg, zusammen mit anderen städtischen Innovationsparks. Ein Funktionsplan wird erstellt, um die Möglichkeiten für die räumliche Entwicklung und Nutzung des Geländes zu skizzieren. Das Hauptziel besteht darin, Unternehmen aus dem Forschungs- und Entwicklungsbereich langfristige Perspektiven durch die Bereitstellung von Flächen in Hamburg zu bieten, was hochqualifizierte Arbeitsplätze schafft. Gleichzeitig soll das bestehende Innovationsökosystem genutzt und verbessert werden. Die angrenzenden Stadtviertel sollen aufgewertet werden, während der Innovationspark national und international bekannter wird.
Die Planungsteams sind damit beauftragt, einen städtebaulichen Entwurf des zukünftigen Funktionsplans zu entwickeln. Dieser berücksichtigt nicht nur die Flächenanforderungen der genannten Nutzungen, sondern auch Themen wie Verkehr, Mobilität und Lieferung sowie ökologische Aspekte wie den Schutz von Biotopen, Regenwasserretentionsflächen und Flora und Fauna. Das erklärte Ziel besteht darin, die aktuellen Stadtentwicklungsthemen wie die Anpassung an den Klimawandel, die Sicherstellung nachhaltiger Mobilität und die Reduzierung der Flächenversiegelung mit den Anforderungen an die Nutzung in Einklang zu bringen.
